Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.
Because Adventure Village understands that different children learn in different ways, we use a rotational model of teaching. In this fun and vibrant atmosphere, we teach our children about the Bible and the Christian faith through a single month-long theme in learning workshops such as drama, music, and movement in the Performance Palace , arts and crafts in Creativity Casa, computer games in the Mouse House, and wonderful storytelling in the Storytelling Tent. Themes include various Bible stories, the Christian calendar and symbols, women in the Bible, etc. Our entire upstairs is dedicated to Christian Education and we’ve made it a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere for our children and youth. Adults are asked to teach in Adventure Village as little or as often as they like, while the Minister for Faith Growth serves as Shepherd each and every Sunday morning. We use Cokesbury’s PowerExpress curriculum which helps children and their teachers develop a deep and life-giving relationship with God.
Children are loved and valued at First Congregational and are part of our congregational life and worship in many ways. We have a Children’s Moment during the traditional service at 11:00 on Sundays, and children help lead worship by service as acolytes to light the altar candles and bringing in the light of Christ to begin our service. They also perform in skits for worship and an annual Christmas Play, and occasionally, along with the youth, they will read Scripture during worship. Each Sunday we provide a stimulating and dynamic Children’s Church for 3 through 7 year olds.
Pre-schoolers.
Our pre-schoolers attend class each Sunday at 10:00 in the chapel where they learn Bible stories, play Bible games, and experience the love and acceptance of Jesus Christ through their dedicated teacher and assistants.
Nursery Program.
The nursery is a place for the youngest among us to be introduced to church, to be safe, and to have fun in a consistently loving and giggle-filled environment. Our nursery attendants are dedicated and trustworthy. The nursery is located on the first floor across from the choir room and adjacent to the senior minister’s office. |
