About

Each week during our "Share the Message, Share our Message" campaign, a member of our congregation will share their message about why First Congregational is such a special place. Some of these messages will be archived on the menu to the right.

I was raised in the Southern Baptist Church and attended regularly until I entered college. After several years of going to no worship services, I joined the Episcopal Church, mainly because Melissa and I got married, and it seemed important to her.  We were fairly active in the church when we lived in Corpus Christi.  We moved to Fort Worth twenty-one years ago, when our sons were ages five and one, and went to a couple of different Episcopal churches but didn’t find one that suited our family’s needs. We dropped out of going to church until about two years ago when we came to First Congregational Church.

At the time, I didn’t know I was looking for a United Church of Christ experience, but I immediately felt right at home. The members of the congregation welcomed us extravagantly.  The UCC commitment to peace and justice resonated with my personal beliefs.  The abundant joy evident in this church made me want to keep coming back.  Now for the first time in my life I enjoy going to church.  I feel more comfortable with this congregation than with any other people I know.  This church provides me with the opportunity to participate in meaningful worship.  It grows my faith. It allows me to actively work toward bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.  I love this church.
