About

Each week during our "Share the Message, Share our Message" campaign, a member of our congregation will share their message about why First Congregational is such a special place. Some of these messages will be archived on the menu to the right.

I was driving down a dark highway.  The further I drove, the more things began to look unfamiliar. I was lost.  It was at the moment that I wanted to pick up the phone and call someone.  I have been described as fiercely independent, so I Ashmore Familydidn’t want someone to do it all for me.  I just needed a companion.  It would have been nice to have someone who had been there before or even just someone to talk me through it all.  To calm me down and help me figure it all out for myself.

This is what I find at First Congregational, companions.  When I needed to figure out how to feed 30 people, there was someone to call.  When my child needed surgery, there was someone to call.  When I wanted to drive to an unfamiliar place in Dallas, there was someone to call.  The members of this church are my sounding board, my family and my home. Whether I explore my faith in worship, classes, working in the church or away from this church, there is someone to call.

The UCC and First Congregation Fort Worth have a rich history but are flexible in welcoming new people, new ideas and new ways.  First Congregational is a church of unity in our differences.  This has always been a safe place for me to openly explore my faith.  Questioning is welcome.

This faith community is amazed by the wonderful gifts that God gave each of us for service and is eager to help each of person use them for the good of the world.  We don’t just talk about what we believe but we also find ways to live our faith.

These doors are wide open with a life-changing welcome.  You are welcomed as family and asked that you be nothing more than yourself.  This is a church that is glad you're here, no matter where you come from, what you look like, how old or young you are, how much money you have, where you are on the journey of life, or where you are on the journey of faith.  Call on us as a companion in faith, no matter which of life’s roads you are on. Thanks for visiting.  I look forward to meeting you in person soon.
