Understanding that God’s will for all human beings is wholeness and the integration of body, mind, and spirit, the Wellness Ministry’s vision of success is an informed congregation and community affirming and advocating optimal health and wholeness.
Our mission is to provide wellness information, education, spiritual guidance and other resources needed to nurture a healthy life.
In addition to our 2008 mental health lecture series, the Wellness Ministry is also working with our neighbor, Westcliff Elementary, to provide “reading buddies” for the children as well as a wellness program built around soccer teams for Westcliff children.
We provide
- regular weekly T’ai Chi and Gentle Yoga classes
- prayer sponsors for our youth and children
- prayer shawl ministry
- prayer circle for those in need of healing
- grief groups as needed
- partnership with the City of Fort Worth ’s Fit Future program
- partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness and participation in the 2008 walk in support of NAMI’s Campaign for the Mind of America
In previous years, the Wellness Ministry is pleased to have sponsored a community fair and blood drives as well as a full series of informational meeting on elder issues, including such topics as advanced directives, planning a memorial service, hospice care, and elder needs and options, cancer prevention and detection, and diabetes.
The Wellness Ministry at First Congregational UCC is a dynamic and growing ministry. We invite your participation, ideas, and contributions. |
